Imran has lost people’s confidence: PML-N leader

PESHAWAR: Advisor to Prime Minster Amir Muqam said on Saturday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan lost the confidence of the people due to his immature politics.

Addressing an event organised in relation to the death anniversary of Late Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan here, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said that Imran Khan would have got some idea about the popularity of his party from his public meeting in Mattani.

He said that Imran should regret bringing his party to this weak position. He said that the PTI has become a regional party from a national party. “The people lost confidence in him due to his childish acts,” he added.

He said that criticism of government and its policies was the political right of the opposition and the PML-N has always welcomed constructive criticism. “But Imran Khan is faking the parliament and state institutions which is not acceptable,” he added.

He said that Imran Khan talking about the accountability of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but has kept mum over the allegations against his party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He alleged that Imran Khan had embezzled the charity funds and used it for his political gains. He said that the PTI’s own lawmakers and ministers levelled corruption charges against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak but Imran Khan had turned a blind eye to the corrupt practices of his party leaders.

He said that millions were pocketed in the Billion Tree Tsunami Campaign and Parent Teacher funds. He claimed Rs60 million was being embezzled in the PEDO but Imran Khan was unmoved to probe these corruption cases.

He said that China was trusted friend of the country and Pervez Khattak should have thought and should be careful about attributing any statement to Chinese Ambassador.

He advised Imran Khan to wait till 2018 general elections. He said that Imran Khan had pledged to construct 350 dams and power houses but could not honour the commitment.
