The Sindh government is earnestly trying to reform the existing police and jail systems and, to this end, the input from the federal ombudsman will prove invaluable.
This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while holding an important meeting with Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqui at the CM House on Friday.
Federal Ombudsman Farooqui, after presenting his reports on jail and police reforms to the chief minister, said the reports were based on a detailed survey of the facilities across the country, including Sindh.
He informed the CM that the reports regarding the police system were full of complaints related to the lack of funds. Farooqui also pointed out the need to differentiate between juvenile first-time offenders and hardened criminals.
To this, CM Shah responded that jail and police reforms were an integral part of his plans and, despite the towering difficulties in the process, it was an aim he was committed to achieve at the earliest.
