Fata teachers demand release of salaries
PESHAWAR: The teachers from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Frontier Region Bannu on Tuesday staged a protest to demand services upgradation and release of withheld salaries.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the Directorate of Education Fata and its director. The protesters gathered in front of the Peshawar Press Club to stage the protest. Malik Abbas Ali and Nawab Afridi led the protesters.
The speakers alleged that Director Education Fata Hameedullah was ineligible and lacked the required experience. They said that he had no experience of running the administrative affairs and couldn’t solve the problems faced by the teachers. The teachers said that funds worth millions of rupees were wasted due to his inexperience. They said that the Directorate of Education Fata had sacked 67 teachers in Frontier Region Bannu.
They claimed that the Peshawar High Court had ordered the department to reinstate the sacked teachers and alleged that the department was using delaying tactics to implement the court orders and upgradation of their services.
