Tevta to train seminary students
LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) is planning to start new vocational training centres at 30 Deeni Madaris (religious seminaries) across Punjab.
Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing a meeting on Monday said new training centres were being started keeping in view the demand of heads of seminaries for imparting technical training to their enrolled students on their premises.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said 14,000 students of 31 selected seminaries across the province had successfully been imparted skilled based training, adding this effort by Tevta to train youths at seminaries had started yielding tangible results. He claimed that most of the pass-outs had now become financially independent while doing their business and self-employment.
He said Middle East countries were in dire need of trained manpower especially in the field of construction and hospitality sectors. He said the purpose to offer short courses at seminaries was to empower youths engaged in religious education in employable skills, adding vocational training would enable them to have more options for sustainable livelihood and to meet with the demand of skilled workers in society.
