Tevta to train drivers
LAHORE
Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) with the collaboration of City traffic police will train 1,500 drivers annually. This training programme will be started from next month.
It was stated by Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while talking to Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema during his visit at Tevta Secretariat on Wednesday. Tevta officers Aamir Aziz, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Uzma Nadia, Umber Chattha, Sarfraz Anwar and others were also present on this occasion.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that female would be given preference to train them as drivers in this programme so that they may easily learn driving.
In this connection, Tevta officers will soon meet with officers of traffic police to arrange curricula and plan for successful starting of the said programme.
This training programme will help to reduce accidents in the city. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that Tevta with the collaboration of National Highways and Motorway Police had already started to train unemployed youth as LTV drivers.
This training programme is successfully running in 36 road training institutes of motorway police across the province of the Punjab. Every trainee is awarded driving licence after successful completion of LTV course, he concluded.
