Pindiites shared food and fun on all Eid days
All three days of Eidul Azha were pleasant, enjoyable and amazing. Pindiites celebrated them with spirit of brotherhood and held in arms each other with love and walked together in harmony.
Pindiites who couldn’t perform the Ibrahimi Sunnah of ‘qurbani’ on the first day did it on the second and third day of Eidul Azha. In addition, those who on every Eid occasion usually sacrifice more than one animal did take the advantage of sacrificing one on each day as it made it easier for them to manage the distribution of meat.
“I did not slaughter my sacrificial animals on the first Eid day on Tuesday to avoid the trouble triggered by scarcity of butchers despite the fact that sacrifice on the first day is more blessed,” said Seemin Hasan from Fazal Town.
“We traditionally do it on the second day of Eid and in front of our home. We invited our loved ones to lunch and dinner. We ate, chatted, laughed and enjoyed our time together to the fullest. Later on we went to Ayub Park,” said Shahbaz Ali from Gulzar-e-Quaid.
“We headed for the recreational spot of Rawal Lake. We went there to make our day. We took cooked food along with us and after having food we took the children to the zoo,” told Rida-e-Zainab from Faisal Colony.
“It’s all about food on the second day of Eidul Azha. I prepared different dishes of meat and the whole family enjoyed. I also tried new dishes of meat that I didn’t make before. I entertained my family and friends with the new tastes and gained a lot of appreciation from them,” says Zehra Nazar from Fazaeya Colony.
“We all went to our brother’s home to enjoy and eat together. Eid is all about meeting up and inculcating the concept of sharing with each other,” says Afsheen Taqi.
“I spent awesome day with my friends on the second and third day. We had a lot of fun enjoying lunch, dinner and BBQ,” says Farhan Syed, a banker.
Food was dominant chapter of our Eid celebrations even on the third day and mostly, in the form of elegant family feasts which by and large included meat dishes and desserts. “As a tradition I prepared organ meats like liver, kidneys and heart and enjoyed all three days of Eid with varieties of dishes. We enjoyed barbecue with families and friends in the evenings,” said Batool Aapa, my neighbor, a mother of seven kids.
“Our Third day started with sweet breakfast such as ‘seviyan’ (vermicelli noodles), ‘kheer’ and ‘sheer khurma’. At lunch we had ‘paaye ka salan’, ‘nihari’, ‘haleem’ and ‘magaz masla’,” says Syed Aamir Sajjad from Mangraal Town.
“We spent third day of Eid with people whom we can’t visit on regular days. My brothers planed something different on this day. They went to cinema to watch a movie,” says Aneeqa Hussain from Shah Khalid Colony.
State-run Television and other TV channels and radio stations aired special Eid day programmes. Newspapers published special supplements on the occasion.
Farman Ali, from Shaheen Town said: “On the third day of Eid, we went out to visit our relatives living outside the town. In the evening, everyone gathered at sophisticated family feast where friends and relatives celebrated few last hours of Eid. Dinner mostly included barbecue, ‘palao’, boneless ‘tikkas’, ‘malai boti’, fish and ‘korma’. Desserts mostly included ‘feerni’, ‘kheer’, and custard and ice-cream.”
