WSSP chalks out strategy for Eid days
PESHAWAR: The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has assigned 1,898 sanitary workers to carry out special three-day sanitary and cleanliness campaign in the provincial capital during Eidul Azha.
WSSP Chief Executive Officer Khanzeb Khan told ‘Meet-the-Press’ programme of the Khyber Union of Journalists at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday that they had hired 75 vehicles to lift the waste of sacrificial animals.
He added that 230 vehicles of WSSP would also carry out the work during Eid holidays.
Khanzeb Khan added that 20 supervisors and eight municipal inspectors had been assigned the task to supervise the campaign in the four towns of the provincial capital.
He added that Eid holidays of sanitary workers, supervisors and inspectors had been cancelled and they would remain on duty.
Khanzeb said that complaint numbers had been advertised and pamphlets distributed while prayer leaders mosques and other community leaders would also be approached for help during the campaign.
The WSSP chief said that 344 sanitation workers and 270 others staffers would discharge their duties during three days campaign to keep the city clean.
Meanwhile, the Local Government, Election and Rural Development Department (LGE&RDD) has worked out an Eid Sanitation Plan to keep the cities and urban towns clean during the Eidul Azha holidays.
Secretary (LGE&RDD), Syed Jamaluddin Shah has directed all Tehsil/Town Municipal Officers (TMOs) to supervise the plan in their jurisdictions.
The holidays of the sanitary workers across the province have been cancelled and they have been directed to remain on duty during the Eid days.
They have also been directed to ensure that no sanitation problem occur and swiftly respond to the public calls in this regard.
The secretary also assigned TMOs to supervise the whole process and assignments of the sanitary workers and ensure that all the sanitary staff remain on duty during the Eid days and special cleanliness operation should be executed to clean up each area.
Special squads of sanitary workers should also be assigned for different areas, including shopping centres, parks, slaughter houses, commercial centres and main roads, the secretary further directed.
