KARACHI: A delegation of 15 Pakistani auto parts manufacturers is visiting German auto show Automechanika in Frankfurt from September 13 to 17, said an auto parts vendor on Thursday.

Automechanika Frankfurt is the world’s largest auto parts trade fair catering to aftermarket sourcing, garage equipment and retail sales chains. Many other Pakistani trade visitors from the auto sector are also going to visit the five-day exhibition.

Most of the visiting companies are members of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (Paapam), which would exhibit their products under the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) pavilion, while three of them would exhibit with the Dutch CBI this year.

Mashood Ali Khan, Paapam’s senior vice chairman, said they wanted to increase exports from Pakistan with the vision to take engineering exports to $5 billion in the next five years. Paapam members are competing with China, India, Thailand and Vietnam. “We are confident of getting orders from across Europe and other countries,” he said.

Pakistani exporters are continuously gaining market access to Europe, mainly through export-related skills training imparted by the Dutch CBI, Centre For Promotion of Exports From Low Cost Countries.

CBI has conducted four-year export coaching programmes in Pakistan, which have resulted in grooming Pakistani engineering sector companies for the export market and also created a human resource of export managers.

Pakistani companies, which see a huge potential for auto spare parts and accessories in the international market, are bearing the cost themselves and are often seen around the world at Automechanika Chicago, Shanghai, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, etc.

Pakistani companies that would participate included A-One Techniques, Darson Industries (Pvt) Ltd, Eastern Agro Industries, Harris Silicon and Gas (Pvt) Ltd, Infinity Engineering (Pvt Ltd), Jodhala Complex (Pvt) Ltd, Kortech Auto Industries (Pvt) Ltd, Landhi Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, Mannan Shahid Forging Ltd, Mehran Commercial Enterprises, Rastgar Engineering Company (Pvt) Ltd, Rubatech Manufacturing Co Ltd, Thal Engineering, Thermosole Industries (Pvt) Ltd, and Ahmed Traders.
