Security measures ahead of Eid
LAHORE
To finalise security arrangements for Eidul Azha, Chinese experts working on different projects, courts, media houses, educational institutes and worship places, and to review law and order, a video link RPO conference under chairmanship of Punjab IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera was held at CPO on Wednesday.
All field officers were directed to follow the Eid-ul-Fitr security SOP on the occasion of forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha. It was decided in the conference that 57,618 police officers, officials will be deployed for the security of 17,383 mosques of all faiths and 1350 open prayer places.
Among these 34,723 Punjab police officials and 22,895 special police and PQR officials will perform their duties. During security duties 12,268 metal detectors, 348 walk through gates and 35137 CCTV cameras will be used. These security officials will monitor banks, government buildings, markets, railway stations, bus terminals, schools and media houses and patrolling will also be increased.
The conference decided to utilise the services of Punjab forensic science agency (PFSA) through their satellite offices established in various regions with a view to expedite the investigation process and collection and preservation of evidences of heinous incidents. All field officers were also directed to take on board the forensic experts for the purpose.
Security of the courts was also reviewed in detail in the conference and it was decided that all field officers will establish close liaison with the representatives of bars and courts. It was also decided that at all entry points of the courts besides, police official a court representative will also be present at duty so that the practice of fake entries of lawyers could be stopped.
While finalising the security of the banks, it was decided that the security SOP already issued in this regard will strictly be implemented and all SDPOs and SHOs will be duty bound to visit the banks in their respective areas on weekly basis. They will also ensure to check the vantage points besides the fitness of the security officials, their weapon and CCTV cameras, simultaneously.
The security of the foreign experts particularly, the Chinese was reviewed in detail in conference and it was decided that their residences, transits and the project sites will be fully protected and no negligence in this regard would be acceptable.
The conference decided that the misuse of loudspeaker in the province will be stopped and a “Zero Tolerance” policy will be followed in this matter.
The conference also decided to monitor the handicapped children bagging around the hot-spot areas with a view to determine whether they are genuinely disabled or some gang is working behind to do so.
