Islamabad: With the monsoon season already on its last leg and thus, cooling temperatures, especially during the nighttime, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy downpour in Islamabad today (Thursday).
According to PMD forecasting officer Muhammad Farooq, a westerly wave will continue to affect upper and central parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
He said rain-thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds was expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Islamabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Quetta and Sukkur divisions and at scattered places in Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan, DG Khan, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The weatherman, however, said hot and humid weather was expected in most parts of the country. He warned heavy downpour could trigger flash floods and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Balochistan, KP, GB and AJK.
