Corrupt practices alleged in varsity affairs
PESHAWAR: The Bannu University Teaching Staff Association on Tuesday asked the government to order an inquiry into alleged corruption and nepotism in appointments in the varsity.
Speaking at a press conference, president of the association Amir Nawaz Khan alleged that Vice-chancellor Dr Abdur Rahim Khan and Additional Registrar Inamullah Khan were involved in corrupt practices.
Flanked by members of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association, he said that the officials had pocketed university funds.
Accusing the administration of nepotism, he said that junior and inexperienced teachers had been appointed chairman of various departments by ignoring the deserving ones. They said that the administration victimised those who raised voice against injustice. The teachers demanded the removal of the vice-chancellor and additional registrar.
