KARACHI: Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain has said that Altaf Hussain still carries veto power in the constitution of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and this should come to an end.

Hussain exposed this while talking to the Geo News on Saturday. He said that he was giving suggestions to MQM Pakistan not to do work in parts.

He said that there should be no issue to remove the name of a person from the party’s constitution who chanted anti-Pakistan slogan. Dr Amir said that he loved Urdu speaking people but he would not stand with any anti-Pakistan person. He said that one meeting was being held in London and other was in Pakistan and all this was being done in parts.

He said that the mistake, which was committed, was so serious and in the light of that it was being observed that whether MQM should stay alive or not. He lamented that the state did not get any FIR registered. He said that all had the right to do politics.

Dr Amir Liaquat further said that he was not talking about only anti-Pakistan slogan but also about those who sought help from Israel and Hindus. He said that they themselves admitted that their some offices were illegal.

Replying to another question, Dr Amir said that he suggested Dr Farooq Sattar to make announcement of dissociation with Altaf Hussain’s statements but he did that after four days.
