ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has urged Pakistan’s Parliament to play proactive role in bringing stability in the region where conflict of Yemen has caused instability as a legitimate government has been toppled forcibly with the foreign assistance by insurgents in the Arab state.
Leader of the visiting Saudi-Pakistan Friendship Group Professor Atalla A Abohassan while talking exclusively to ‘The News’ here at the residence of Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Marzouk Al-Zahrani on Thursday, said that Pakistan being partner of the coalition in operation ‘Decisive Storm’ should dispatch its troops for the preservation of stability on the frontiers of the Kingdom. “We don’t want the troops to fight inside Yemen as Saudi Arabia is interested in preservation of peace in the whole area. The troops would be deployed inside Saudi Arabia as people of Pakistan love Saudi Arabia,” Professor Atalla added. He is heading delegation of five distinguished members of Saudi Majlis-e-Shoora who are also associated with the Saudi-Pakistan Friendship Parliamentary Group. A woman member of the Shoora is also part of the delegation.
Professor Atalla maintained that Saudi Arabia enjoys the best ties with Pakistan and the relationship is bound to enhance further. The Kingdom and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz had always been prepared to provide assistance to Pakistan in any crisis. The people of the two brotherly countries have affectionate relations, he said.
Ambassador Abdullah Marzouk Al-Zahrani hosted lunch Thursday in the honour of Professor Atalla Abohassan and members of the delegation at his residence in Diplomatic Enclave. It was also attended by members of the Parliament belonging to different groups including acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Senator Mushahid Hussain, former State Minister Mian Abdul Manan, Haji Akram Ansari MNA, Muhammad Ejaz ul Haq, Haji Shair Akbar Khan and Secretary National Assembly Muhammad Riaz Khan. The delegation had earlier meeting with the acting Speaker National Assembly. It will also have some important meetings today (Friday) before returning home.
