ECP extends date to Sept 30

Issuance of party tickets/certificates

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday extended date for issuance of party tickets/certificates for participation in the first phase of upcoming local government polls in the Punjab and Sindh.
A commission statement said in order to facilitate political parties and contesting candidates, the date was being extended for issuance of party tickets/certificates, either by the party head or the authorized office-bearer, from September 11 to September 30.
The other day, a delegation of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz met the ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad requesting extension in time for the award of tickets to candidates.
Meanwhile, the commission Tuesday de-notified Chaudhry Muhammad Arif as MNA from Okara-II from August 21.
The commission said pursuant to the August 21 judgment of the Election Tribunal, Multan on election petition No. 352/2013 ECP, 25/2013 (Fayyaz Ahmad Khan Ghori versus Ch. Muhammad Arif Hussain and others), the membership of Ch. Muhammad Arif had been de-notified with effect from August 21.
