Saudi, Palestinian leaders visit IIU

Dr. Al-Sheikh Ekrima Sa'id Sabri, Grand Imam-Khateeb of Aqsa Mosque, Palestine has said that Islam is a religion of peace, tranquillity and brotherhood.

"The need of time is to portray the true picture of Islam to get rid the scourge of terrorism and extremism. The global presence of the IIU is the pride of Ummah," he told high officials during a visit to the International Islamic University (IIU) accompanied by Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Al-Ghnam, Dr. Abu Saad bin Al-Dousiri, director of Maktaba tu Al-Dawah Islamabad and Maulana Ali Mohammad Abu Turab, Vice Ameer of Markzi Jamiet Ahl-e-Hadith, Pakistan.

Dr. Masoom Yaisnzai, rector, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Driaweesh, president of IIU and high officials welcomed the delegation members at new campus of the university.

Sheikh Ikrima said IIU playing its valuable role worldwide to highlight the true image of Islam and its contributions are recognized across the Muslim Ummah.

He was of the view that university is real pride of Muslim Ummah and one of the precious assets. Sheikh Ekrima hoped that university would continue its valued effort for the unity of Muslim Ummah and Palestinian students with special seats for higher education would be facilitated at IIUI.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Al-Ghnam said in his speech that university is centre of Islam and intellectual legacy of Muslim Ummah.

He admired the services of IIUI that the students are being nurtured according to the tenets of contemporary Islamic discourse at the university. Dr. Masoom in his welcome address said that with special character IIUI is an international university providing quality education to the youth of Muslim Ummah and producing all rounder individuals integrated with teachings of Islam.

He said that university was open to all with no discrimination either on the basis of colour, sex, religion, cast and creed’ it always aims at exploring Islam’s true message of moderation, inter-faith harmony and peace.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said being the third largest university of Pakistan, the IIU always focuses on to develop strong educational ties and linkages with universities of Muslim world.

He added that IIU felt the need to extend cooperation, collaboration and support with those universities while mentioning the MoUs already signed with number of universities.

The IIU president briefed about the academic programs and faculty departments of the university.

Later, university shields presented to worthy guests and later on delegation members visited different department of the university.
