BARA: The Independence Day was celebrated in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency after a period of 12 years.
Bara sub-division suffered from militancy and military operations and its people were displaced. The residents of Bara have resumed normal life after being sent back to their native areas. The day was celebrated in various places including Bar Qambarkhel, Sipah and Malikdinkhel. The flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Government High School in Jan Khan Killay in Bar Qambarkhel where former federal minister Hameedullah Jan Afridi was the chief guest.

Another function was held in Kohi Sher Haider area in Malikdinkhel where the national flag was hoisted by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Fata chapter head Iqbal Afridi.Martial arts, tug-of-war, cricket, karate and volleyball sports were arranged on the occasion.Army officials distributed prizes among winners on the occasion.Another event was arranged in Speen Qabar area by the Afridi Medical Complex.
