Campuses hoist national flag to mark I-Day

Education institutions of the provincial metropolis including schools, colleges and universities organised ceremonies in connection with Independence Day on Sunday.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held outside the VC Office at Punjab University (PU) New Campus which was attended by Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Resident Officer-I Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad, Resident Officer-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, heads of various departments, directors, principals, senior faculty members, Academic Staff Association (ASA) and Syndicate members, employees and a large number of children.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Dr Shahid Kamal said it was our moral duty to work together for country’s prosperity and protecting its heritage because Pakistan had been created with the efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal and millions of people who sacrificed their homes and lives. He said the promotion of education culture fin Pakistan was very important or the sake of peace and to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Later, the participants prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country while sweets were also distributed after the prayer ceremony.
University of Engineering and Technology (UET) also organised a flag-hoisting ceremony where Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion the VC said Pakistan is our motherland and we should own it by performing our duties with a sense of responsibility. “It is a matter of pride that in Muslim Ummah we are the only atomic power and have rich and diverse culture, climate and talent," he said and added, “These resources must be properly used for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.” He said freedom was a great blessing and we could observe the life of slavery in different parts of the world. The ceremony was connected with a programme held in Islamabad Convention Centre. Deans, faculty, employees and a large number of students were present on the occasion. The entire campus was decorated with flags, lights and flowers.
Meanwhile the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) also arranged a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the Independence Day here on Sunday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha hoisted the national flag on the City Campus while faculty members, staff and students were also present. Speaking on the occasion the VC congratulated the university employees and students on celebrating the Independence Day and asked them to work hard with honesty and dedication for the progress of the country. He also called for abiding by the sayings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and following the vision of Allama Iqbal. He said we must remember the services of our elders who had sacrificed their lives for the achievement of our motherland. He said we are lucky that Allah Almighty has bestowed our country with four seasons and countless other blessings. He also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people, who are suffering from barbarism by Indian forces.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held on Ravi Campus Pattoki, CVAS Jhang Campus and Para-Veterinary Institute Layyah campus.
The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) also celebrated the Independence Day with full fervor; zeal and a sovereign commitment to continue playing its role in education- promotion in the low income families.
PEF Managing Director Tariq Mahmood performed the ceremony of hoisting national flag at the main building along with other officials in the morning. On the occasion, national anthem was sung and PEF staff prayed for the prosperity and progress of the country.
While addressing the ceremony, the MD said the foundation was working hard to make Pakistan an educated country by ensuring that every deserving child makes it to the nearby school, funded by the PEF.
“Education is our strong identity”, he said and added “Quality education is the finest gift to the children who cannot go to the school due to various socio-economic reasons.”
Meanwhile a large number of public schools and colleges of the provincial metropolis also organized ceremonies to celebrate the Independence Day.
