KHAR: A tribal elder associated with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was killed while three soldiers sustained injuries in separate roadside blasts in the Bajaur Agency, official sources said on Sunday.
The sources said that PPP Loi Mamond chapter president Malik Muhammad Khan was on his way when he was targetted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Zari area. “The tribal elder died on the spot,” an official source said, adding that security forces had cordoned off the area after the incident and launched a search operation.
Meanwhile, three soldiers sustained injuries when their vehicle was targetted with an IED in the Sperai area, Wara Mamond.
The soldiers were airlifted to Peshawar for treatment. Security forces launched a search operation after the incident. However, no arrest was made during the search.
The acts of sabotage in Bajaur Agency have increased in the recent days.
Three persons, including tribal elder Malik Dawa Khan, were killed and two others sustained injuries in a roadside blast in Arang area in Utmankhel tehsil in Bajaur Agency on Saturday. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan ordered provision of Rs50,000 and food items to the families of the Utmankhel blast victims.
Officials of the Bajaur political administration also visited the residence of Malik Dawa Khan and offered condolences to the family.
