Rioting in Multan after arrest of ‘child kidnapper’
MULTAN: Cantt police baton-charged people when they protested against them for allegedly protecting an accused at Chungi No-1 on Friday.
The police raided a house and arrested an accused allegedly involved in heinous crimes. In the meantime, residents gathered there and staged a demonstration, accusing the police of protecting a child kidnapper. Some of the protesters destroyed the accused’s car. The SP reportedly ordered baton-charge to disperse the protesters.
During this, the police officials also pushed and slapped TV reporters Haider Ali and Tahir Khan for filming the baton-charge. Later, the journalists also staged a demonstration against the alleged police highhandedness. They demanded suspension of the SP. Police said the residents intercepted the police party when they arrested Liaqat.
