PM approves construction of Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday gave in principle approval for the construction of Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway and directed the Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) to start work on the project in March 2017. The approval was given during a briefing to the Prime Minister by Chairman NHA Shahid Ashraf Tarar here at the PM House on the status of ongoing as well as future development projects across the country, a press release issued by the PM’s Office said.
The prime minister was apprised by the chairman that work on infrastructure development projects worth Rs1,000 billion, including CPEC projects, were underway and majority of these projects would be completed between the end of 2017 and March 2018. The prime minister was told that utmost transparency has been ensured while executing the development of Motorways projects.
The PM said that the government’s vision of governance was based on transparency and efficiency and there would be no compromise on both these components. He said that the network of Motorways was being spread across the country, which will increase the economic growth of Pakistan and result in the generation of employment opportunities across the country. The years ahead will witness a more progressive and developed Pakistan through our sincere and concerted efforts, the PM concluded.The prime minister will perform the inauguration of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway in the last week of this month.
