Second shift professors demand raise
LAHORE
A good number of visiting professors, who have been teaching in second shift of Lahore’s different public sector colleges, have demanded of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Education Minister Rana Mashhood to raise their per period stipend.
In a joint press release issued here on Thursday, they said that the Education Department had given the college authorities permission to pay the visiting faculty up to Rs 500 per period, but a lot of colleges were not paying Rs 500 stipend rather they were paying Rs 250, Rs 300 and Rs 350, which was not fair with the highly qualified and competent professors.
They said that this meagre stipend was not enough to deal with the daily-rising inflation. They demanded the Punjab chief minister and education minister order the authorities concerned to raise their stipend at least up to Rs 600 per period.
