SHEIKHUPURA: Seven terrorists were killed in a shootout as Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) raided the group suspected of launching attacks on security posts, officials said Sunday. According to the CTD sources, the encounter took place near Pahrianwala in Bhikhi Police Station’s precinct after they conducted raid on a tip-off about the presence of 10 terrorists.
Seeing the raiding team, the outlaws opened fire which triggered a gunfight. As a result, seven terrorists died on the spot, while three of their accomplices managed to escape.The CTD recovered five kilograms of explosives, three motorcycles, three Kalashnikov rifles, two hand grenades, four pistols and thousands of bullets from the spot.
The CTD claimed that maps of different sensitive installations of Lahore and Sheikhupura had also been recovered from the dead terrorists. The terrorists belonged to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the banned sectarian group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. They were accused of planning attacks on security posts and law enforcement agencies in Punjab.
