Four upsets witnessed in Lahore races

LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club (LRC) witnessed a dramatic afternoon on Sunday as four upsets unfolded in a seven-race card, with only three favourites living up to expectations.

The surprises came courtesy of Construct Craft, Gifts Of Gold, Shahanshah and Little Master, while Nostalgic, Prodigal Rain and Mogambo justified their billing as favourites. The opening race set the tone when Construct Craft, an unfancied runner, stunned the field. Sher Dill added to the surprise by finishing second, while book favourite My Handsome had to settle for third.

The second race produced another upset as Gifts Of Gold claimed victory, with Pride Of Chandrai taking place and Leo Star finishing third. In the third race, Shahanshah emerged as the shock winner, followed by fluke entry Rayaan Prince in second and Zaman Sahib in third. The fourth race finally saw a favourite succeed, with Nostalgic prevailing ahead of Sarkar Raj and surprise third-placed Princess Barcelona.

The fifth race featured hot favourite Prodigal Rain, who delivered as expected, while Brooklyn upset the odds to finish second and Ceaser claimed third. In the sixth race, strongly fancied Mogambo secured victory, but Feel My Love surprised by finishing runner-up, with place favourite Kit Kat in third. The final race of the day capped the drama, as fluke entry Little Master stunned the field to win, relegating favourite Awan Di Shan to second and Haseeb Thunder to third.
