Virtual court in Parachinar inaugurated

PARACHINAR: A virtual court was inaugurated in Parachinar under the directive of the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court, allowing court proceedings to be conducted via video link for the first time.

Speaking to the media, District Bar Association president Fida Hussain and former president Muhammad Ali Turi said that the main road linking Kurram district to the rest of the province has been closed for over a year, making it extremely difficult for local residents and lawyers to appear before the PHC.

They said that Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Attique Shah and Registrar Muhammad Zaib Khan had approved the establishment of the virtual court to resolve this long-standing issue. District and Sessions Judge Amjad Hussain and the District Bar Association also played a key role in making the initiative possible.

On Friday, several litigants and lawyers appeared before the court through video link. Tehsil Chairman Agha Muzammil Hussain also joined proceedings online in one of the cases.Chairman Agha Muzammil noted that due to road closures, citizens were facing numerous problems, including difficulties in attending court hearings in Peshawar and other cities. He added that the establishment of a virtual court in Parachinar has provided a major relief to the people, terming the Chief Justice’s decision “commendable and timely.”
