Woman killed as rivals trade fire in Bajaur
KHAR: A woman was killed in firing between two tribes over a dispute on a hill in the mountainous Uthmankhel area in Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.
Local sources said that the two Stanadar and Mataki tribes exchanged fire for nine hours over a dispute on a hill in which a 20-year old woman was killed.However, later a successful peace agreement was reached between the tribes.
Later, the district administration, police and elders of a jirga swung into action and managed to stop the firing in the area.Both the sides signed a written ceasefire agreement. Under the agreement, appropriate search operations would be launched to demolish bunkers, weapons would be seized and any future involvement of law-enforcement agencies in the dispute would not be tolerated.
