PPP leader urges govt to help rehab KP flood victims

TAKHTBHAI: Pakistan People’s Party leader and former minister Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood said on Tuesday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was currently facing severe devastation due to natural disasters caused by recent floods.

Speaking at his residence during a meeting with a delegation from the Takhtbhai Press Club, Senator Talha emphasized the urgent need for effective and immediate measures for relief, rehabilitation and resettlement of flood-affected communities.

He urged both the federal and KP governments to work closely with welfare organizations to reduce the suffering of the victims.The delegation included Takhtbhai Press Club office-bearers Muslim Khan Sabir, Izzat Khpalwak, Muhammad Shahid Khan and Ibrahim Syed Yousafzai.

During the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the destruction caused by floods, the difficulties faced by affected families and the steps required for their rehabilitation**.Senator Talha said that several districts of KP, particularly Buner, Swabi, Swat, Bajaur, and Shangla, had been severely affected by recent rains and flash floods.

He said overflowing mountain streams, destroyed farmlands, and damaged infrastructure have badly impacted local populations.He said many lives were lost while hundreds others were injured or displaced, standing crops, orchards, and agricultural lands were damaged, affecting farmers directly.

He said that roads were destroyed, bridges washed away and many villages disconnected from surrounding areas.Senator Talha also shared that his charitable organization, the Muhammad Talha Mahmood Foundation, was actively engaged in non-discriminatory relief work in Buner, Swabi and other affected districts.
