Rawalpindi: A five-day anti-polio campaign in 35 high risk union councils of the city cantonment Tehsil Taxila and rural areas of Rawalpindi will start from July 25 to cover more than 250,000 children.
Under the drive the polio teams would visit 14 union councils of Rawalpindi city, six wards of Rawalpindi cantonment, seven union councils of Tehsil Taxila and eight union councils of Tehsil Rawalpindi, which have been declared high risk areas, In-charge anti-polio drive Muhammad Hussain told APP here Friday. He said reason for launching the special drive is presence of people coming from KP especially after sewage samples collected from these areas indicated the presence of polio virus. He said staff deployed for the campaign has been issued special instructions and informed that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.
He advised parents to come forward and play their role in ensuring vaccination of their children to eliminate the disease from society.
