Targeted operation: Return of displaced families in Bajaur begins

KHAR: The repatriation process of temporarily displaced families from Mamond tehsil has formally begun, following the clearance of targeted operations in the region.

According to a statement issued by the district administration, the security forces have fully cleared Tarkho village in Loi Mamond tehsil, paving the way for the return of local residents. Officials confirmed that the return of displaced families from other affected areas would also be completed in a phased and organized manner.

The administration praised the patience and sacrifices of Tarkho’s residents during the displacement period. Provincial Assembly Member and Chairman District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Dr Hameedur Rehman announced that the affected families were now allowed to return home. He further stated that families who missed the registration process can still complete it from their village at the scheduled time. As part of the rehabilitation package, the provincial government would provide cash assistance through SIM cards to all registered families.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the district administration distributed welfare grants worth Rs10 million among mine workers and their families. The ceremony, held at the DC Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, was organized by the Commissionerate of Mines Labour Welfare.

During the event, cheques were distributed under several welfare schemes including the Death Grant Scheme, Permanent Disability Grant Scheme, Marriage Grant Scheme, Pulmonary Grant Scheme, and Scholarship Scheme (from primary education to PhD). Assistant Commissioner Mines Bajaur Muhammad Irshad and Superintendent PHE Shakoorullah also attended the ceremony.
