Al-Qadir Trust case accused’s 405-kanal land auctioned at Rs3.42m/kanal
ISLAMABAD: Property belonging to Ali Riaz, a proclaimed offender in the Al-Qadir Trust case, comprising 405 kanals of land in Mohra Noor, Bani Gala, was sold at Rs3.42 million per kanal.
However, no bids were received for 248 kanals of land owned by Farhat Shahzadi, also known as Farah Gogi, a close aide to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi. In January 2024, a court declared six accused, including Farah Gogi, Zulfi Bukhari, and Shahzad Akbar, as fugitives. Despite this, no one participated in the bidding for either the 16-kanal motel plot or the 248-kanal agricultural land on Club Road, both owned by Farah Gogi.
The auction was held in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Uzair Ali Khan and other committee members. It was scheduled to begin at 11am, but the auction committee arrived at 5:49pm.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Islamabad has assured all residents and property owners of Bahria Town that all their legal rights, properties, and investments are secure.
According to NAB announcement on Monday, the news being spread by certain elements is a deliberate conspiracy to create panic and, under its guise, purchase their properties at low prices. It stated that the NAB views all residents of Bahria Town and property owners as victims of fraud and deception and will ensure their rights are protected. The NAB official statement stated that the NAB’s ongoing actions are limited to the owners of Bahria Town and their assets. It is determined to continue its legal proceedings without any pressure until these individuals appear before the law and return the looted money.
It asked all the residents and property owners to disregard any negative or malicious information and to continue with their daily lives peacefully, and immediately report any suspicious activities to NAB.
