Another two coalminers from Shangla killed in Balochistan

ALPURI: A man and his son, who were working as coalminers, lost their lives while three others sustained injuries in a gas explosion inside a coalmine in the Duki coalfield of Harnai, Balochistan

The deaths of coalminers from Shangla has continued unabated, as this was the third such accident in just six days that has so far claimed the lives of five labourers and left three others injured across various coalfields in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The latest incident occurred on Tuesday in the Duki coalfield of Harnai, Balochistan, where a buildup of toxic gas led to an explosion inside a coal mine. Two miners, a father and his son, lost their lives while three others sustained injuries.

The deceased were identified as Wajid, son of Sher Afzal, and Sher Afzal, son of Dil Afzar, residents of Mian Killay Banda in Shangla’s Alpuri tehsil.Their bodies have been transported from Harnai to Shangla for burial. The injured included Amir Muhammad and Ashraf Ali, both sons of Gul Rahman and residents of Union Council Alpuri, along with Noor Islam, son of Hakeem Khan from Jordhery. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment.

Earlier on Sunday, three workers from Shangla were killed in a similar gas explosion while working in the Sar Khuna Jungle coalmine in Orakzai. The victims were identified as Sher Rehman, son of Gul Zaman from Pirabad Alpuri; Aslam Khan, son of Hayat Gul from Khomaiyar Dherai; and Rahimullah from Shahpur.
