KARAK: Residents continued protest for the second consecutive day against the non-provision of basic amenities and threatened to intensify protest if negotiations with the authorities failed.
The protesters demanded the transfer of Deputy Commissioner Karak Abid Khan Wazir and Naib Tehsildar Arif Khan Khattak within 24 hours and threatened to boycott the anti-polio campaign scheduled to be started from July 25.
The protesters, led by Rabita Committee head and provincial joint secretary of ANP Khursheed Khattak and Maulana Mirzaqeem, gathered outside the Peer Odeen Shah Masjid and later staged a rally to deputy commissioner’s office on Thursday but a heavy contingent of police at Baz Muhammad Khattak Chowk stopped them from proceeding further.
The protesters staged protest demonstration and sit-in outside the office of the chairman of District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC).
