CM says Punjab govt will bear their education expenses through PEEF;
gives away laptop and Rs100,000 to each position-holder

LAHORE

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday addressed a ceremony in Model Town, in the honour of position-holder students, belonging to families having very limited resources, in the  Matric examination.

The chief minister gave away laptop and cheque for Rs100,000 to each position-holder student. He announced bearing all future educational expenditure of position-holders belonging to poor families on this occasion and said these talented students are our heroes who achieved prominent positions in the examination through their hard work, ability and capability in difficult circumstances.

The Punjab government will bear their educational expenses through Punjab Education Endowment Fund till the time they study, he added. Shahbaz Sharif congratulated position-holder students, their parents, teachers and principals and said that today we salute these sons and daughters of the nation for their hard work. 

Obtaining positions by these children of poor families in difficult circumstances is appreciable and it proves that if one works hard then doors of success are automatically open. He said that parents of these children had educated them by curtailing their expenditure who also had honoured their parents. He said these students belonged to those families where acquiring education was impossible but they achieved this place through their hard work and the entire nation was proud of their success. He said these were the shining stars of Pakistan as they worked hard and achieved better position than the children of the rich. 

Addressing position-holder students, Shahbaz Sharif said a simple but an impressive ceremony had been held in the honour of these children of the nation who got positions in the examination of Matric despite difficult conditions and less resources.

He congratulated position-holders, their parents and teachers from the core of his heart.  He said the aim of holding this simple ceremony was that the heroes of the nation should be brought before the nation. 

He announced that these position-holders of poor families would be scholars of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and would study to any level they want. He said that as long as these students would maintain their position through hard work and move forward in education field, process of provision of resources through educational funds would be continued for them as they had done a great job and the entire nation was proud of them. 

MPs: Parliamentarians belonging to different districts called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Thursday.

According to a handout, speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the government was marching speedily towards the destination of progress of Pakistan and prosperity of the people. He said some political elements were out to stop this journey of development. 

solar energy: Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting Thursday which reviewed different matters of the programme of shifting schools and basic health centres (BHCs) of the province on solar energy. 

Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that work on programme of converting more than 4,000 schools on solar energy by making them off grid should be forwarded speedily and internationally reputed companies selected for the programme in a transparent manner. He stressed upon the need of working in a professional manner on this programme and added that special attention should be paid to its quality.
