QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti has highlighted the potential of initiating a ferry service from Gwadar to Oman, which would not only facilitate pilgrims but also provide ease to the local population. He assured full cooperation from the Balochistan government in this project, emphasizing its potential to strengthen regional connectivity.
He expressed these views while participating in a meeting via video link held on Thursday with Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
The discussion revolved around the development of Gwadar, enhancement of civic amenities, and creating job opportunities for the youth.
The chief minister welcomed the water plant set up by the Gwadar Port Authority, which would provide 1.2 million gallons of clean drinking water daily to the residents of Gwadar. This initiative, he noted, would be a significant step towards resolving the long-standing water crisis in the region.
Emphasising the importance of empowering the youth, Chief Minister Bugti stated that the government is committed to providing world-class training to young individuals through the Pak-China Technical Vocational Center. The center would play a pivotal role in achieving the government’s goal of training 30,000 youth and sending them abroad for employment.
The chief minister reiterated that the development of Gwadar Port would be a game-changer for the region and the country. He assured that the Balochistan government would provide full support to the Gwadar Port Authority in all its developmental projects, enabling the port to play a central role in the national economy.
