POA lauds shooters performance in Yakutsk
KARACHI: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has lauded the performance of young shooters in the Children of Asia International Sports Games which is in progress at Yakutsk, Sakha Repulic Yakutia, Russia, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The POA in a press release on Tuesday said that Pakistan fielded in these games only two shooters and one wrestler.
Pakistani shooters Fatima Aftab and Nubaira Babur played exceptionally well, the POA added.
“The most striking aspect of their performance was that they led the most experienced and famous shooters of Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Singapore, Iraq and Sri Lanka. The girls were among the eight finalists and both got fifth positions in their respective events of air-rifle and air- pistol,” it said.
The POA chief Arif Hasan praised the performance of the young shooters and hoped that the experience gained from these games would help them in future.
Arif also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Shooting Federation (PSF) for the development of the sport.
