The mismanagement at the Lahore airport starts before you even reach the lounge. Hundreds of cars queue in the driveway, with security staff struggling to coordinate and direct passengers through bottlenecks. As you step out, the airport is overcrowded with the friends and relatives of the passengers, causing chaotic movement and congestion. Security checks are painfully slow, with staff meticulously checking ticket and passport details and outdated scanning systems adding to the delay. The baggage screening process is equally inefficient, with staff scanning bags at a leisurely pace, moving them back and forth in the scanner while others wait.
I have also witnessed some passengers blatantly bypassing the queue. Basic amenities like toilets are unclean and poorly maintained. Supervisors seem disengaged, and frontline staff appear demotivated and untrained. This chaotic experience leaves a lasting negative impression of Pakistan on international travelers. The root of the problem is a lack of effective leadership.
