PESHAWAR: The City Traffic Police Peshawar on Sunday devised a traffic plan for Muharram to ensure a free flow of traffic.
A press release said, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan deputed over 1,000 traffic officials and wardens in various parts of the city to maintain traffic flow during Muharram as done in previous years.
Additionally, riders and forklifts were assigned duties in different parts of the city.The CTO directed the traffic personnel to inspect the routes of processions across the district and ensure the provision of all necessary facilities.
Acting on his instructions, officials of the City Traffic Police inspected routes of Muharram processions in various areas and issued immediate orders for resolving issues identified by members of different schools of thought.
Haroon Rashid Khan stated that all routes leading to processions and mourning points would be closed to all types of traffic from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram.However, alternative routes were arranged for the convenience of the general public to prevent any difficulties for citizens and mourners alike.
The CTO said that officials of the City Traffic Police Peshawar would regularly visit Imambargahs across different areas to identify and address issues faced by people of all sects.“Immediate action will be taken wherever problems are pointed out”, he added.
