Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Sultan’hits record prior to release
KARACHI: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s upcoming film Sultan is by and far and unarguably the most highly anticipated movie of 2016 and has a lot going for it.
Sultan has hit a milestone prior to its release. Collectively, Sultan has topped over 100 million views across all its promotional video assets on YRF’s social media network. The movie’s campaign kick-started with the release of teaser units introducing Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma which now have amassed over 26 million views. If we’re going by trailer success, Sultan once again pulls ahead of the pack as it has become the most-liked trailer on YouTube with over 22 million views.
All the four video songs (Baby Ko Bass, Jag Ghoomeya, 440 Volt, Title Track) released so far have featured in social media trends and have clocked over a million views each in no time. In a first, Salman Khan has also recorded and released an audio version of all the four tracks in his voice. Get ready, Sultan hits the screens on 6th July.
Fans of Salman Khan will enjoy more screen time with him than usual when Sultan releases this Eid. The film’s running time clocks in at two hours and 50 minutes, making it one of the longest films in Salman’s career.
“It’s also one of the most gripping films of Salman’s career,” says Salim Khan, Salman’s father, who had the privilege of watching the film before its release.
Despite two releases last year, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman Khan couldn’t break Happy New Year’s record of making maximum money on its first day. It had made a staggering 44.97 cr but Sultan could trump that and become the highest opening day earner. PRDP had made 40.35 cr on day 1 and Sultan has all the trappings to defeat HNY.
The highest grossing movie of Salman Khan’s stellar career, Bajrangi Bhaijaan rang up 184.62 crore ($27.7 million) in its opening week in India in July 2015. Can the Bollywood superstar’s new film Sultan, which launches worldwide on July 6, beat that in its first five days? Yes, according to a healthy majority of people who responded to an online poll.
