‘Gang leader’ killed in police encounter in Shah Latif Town
A suspected gangster was killed during an alleged police encounter near Manzil Pump in Shah Latif Town’s Saleh Muhammad Goth on the night between Sunday and Monday.
The incident took place when a Shah Latif police patrol came under fire from armed suspects. The oolice returned fire, killing one of the attackers. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Naveed alias Kuppi, son of Azam.
According to the District Malir police spokesperson, Naveed was the ringleader of a gang involved in extortion, robberies, street crimes, and multiple attacks on law enforcement personnel. Authorities recovered a rifle, a 9mm pistol, a mobile phone, and cash from the scene.
The oolice confirmed that Naveed was a wanted criminal with multiple cases registered against him and had been evading arrest for a long time. Raids were currently underway to apprehend his fleeing accomplices. Further investigation is ongoing.
