Personnel of the Pakistan Customs Enforcement carried out a raid at the Star City Mobile Market in Saddar on Monday and seized expensive smuggled mobile phones worth millions of rupees.

Syed Irfan Ali, a spokesman for the customs, said that on information received by Karachi Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Moinuddin Ahmed Wani, and acting on the orders of ASO Additional Collector Customs Enforcement Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi, Anti-Smuggling Organisation staff led by Assistant Collector Customs Enforcement Bisma Jatoi conducted a successful raid on a shop-like warehouse located in Star City Mobile Market.

In the raid, the ASO team seized Apple iPhone, Apple MacBook, Apple Watches, Apple Pencils, Samsung Tablets, Air Pods worth Rs30 million. Moreover, Indian-made items were also seized.

The Pakistan government has imposed a ban on the import of any kind of Indian-made items, which reinforces the fact that these items are being smuggled illegally. The seized items have been shifted to the ASO warehouse.

An investigation is underway to find out how the banned Indian-made items reached here so that the persons involved in this smuggling and their facilitators can be identified and a case can be registered under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act and the strictest punishment can be given under the prevailing law.

Earlier, in February 2025, a large number of Indian origin mobile phones, tablets, iPads and gutka and other items were recovered and seized in a raid on Star City Mall.
