Two suspects killed in ‘accomplices’ firing’ during encounter

LAHORE:Two suspects in police custody were killed allegedly by the firing of their own accomplices during an ‘encounter’ in the Badami Bagh area.

The deceased suspects identified as Tariq and Shahid were reportedly wanted in several criminal cases, including robbery. Police said that the suspects were being taken for recovery and the arrest of their accomplices when the police convoy was ambushed.

According to a CCD spokesperson, as is often the case in such encounters, the accomplices opened fire on the police party in an alleged attempt to rescue the suspects. During the exchange of gunfire, the two suspects were fatally shot—supposedly by their own accomplices—who then managed to flee the scene. Bodies were shifted to the morgue.

Woman’s body recovered from open drain

Body of an unidentified woman was recovered from an open drain near Nishtar Stop on Ferozepur Road on Thursday. Rescue 1122 officials retrieved the body and handed it over to the police.

Bus, truck collision leaves one dead, seven injured

A man died and seven others sustained injuries in a collision between a lorry and a truck at Parwathe Stop on Ferozepur Road on Thursday. Rescue 1122 personnel provided first aid to the injured before shifting them to General Hospital for further treatment. The cause of the accident was yet to be determined. The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic on Ferozepur Road. Police shifted the body, yet to be identified, to the morgue.

Man arrested for killing his wife

Green Town Investigation police arrested a man accused of murdering his wife during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred during a heated argument between the couple. In a fit of rage, the accused attacked 'N' with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting fatal wounds. She died on the spot. Following the murder, the suspect fled the scene.
