Three terrorists killed in clash with Lakki police
Police say a terrorist commander, Chhota Waseem, was among the killed ones
LAKKI MARWAT: Three terrorists were killed and a policeman was martyred in an armed clash in the Kot Kashmir area here on Monday. Police said that the clash was triggered when a large police contingent backed by Armored Personnel Carriers and supported by armed villagers confronted terrorists in the area.
They said during the fierce and intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were neutralised and killed while a police constable, Shahidullah, was critically injured. They said that the injured cop later succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a hospital. Police said that a terrorist commander, Chhota Waseem, was among the killed ones who, along with his accomplices, was wanted by law enforcement agencies in cases about terrorist attacks.
They said that security was beefed up after the clash, while the funeral prayer of the martyred police official was offered at the police lines, attended by district administration officials and police, and military authorities. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, praised the professional skills of the Lakki Marwat Police for their successful operation against terrorists and said that community policing has enabled the police to gain public support.
He paid tribute to Constable Shahidullah, who was martyred during the encounter with terrorists, and stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police was proud of all its martyrs who laid down their lives to protect the land and its people, thereby thwarting the evil intentions of the terrorists.
