PTI not able to launch movement: Rana Sana
Sana urges opposition to accept PM's invitation for dialogue and participate in electoral reforms
FAISALABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has downplayed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plans for launching a movement, stating that it would yield no results.
Speaking to media after Eid prayers here, he said the PTI was currently in no position to mobilize a successful campaign. He urged the opposition to accept the prime minister’s invitation for dialogue and participate in electoral reforms. “Opposition parties should sit with the government to amend election laws and find solutions to problems of Pakistan’s 240 million citizens,” he emphasized.
Calling for a national consensus, he proposed a Charter of Economy as a starting point for a broader political dialogue. He added: “Once we achieve an agreement on the economy, other political matters can also be addressed.”
Commenting on national security, he said Pakistan had given a strong response to India, which was now facing global embarrassment. He added: “Under Modi, India remains hostile not only to Pakistan but also to Muslims, but the Indian government must not dare to even think about attacking Pakistan.” He said India continued to support terrorist activities inside Pakistan and warned of increased attempts at sabotage. He praised Pakistan’s military leadership for fulfilling its responsibilities and called on political leaders to demonstrate unity. On local governance, he confirmed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is committed to holding local body elections in Punjab on a party basis, as mandated by the Constitution.
