Eidul Azha celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with religious fervour

PESHAWAR: Eidul Azha was celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including merged tribal areas, with religious fervour and enthusiasm.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques and Eidgahs for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah and the progress, prosperity and security of the country.Eid congregations were held in all major cities and towns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where people prayed to Allah Almighty to seek forgiveness and mercy.

Like other cities in the country, small and large Eid prayer gatherings will also be held in Peshawar.The main Eid congregation was held at the Mughal-era Eidgah on Charsadda Road where the Khateeb highlighted the philosophy of sacrifice in the way of Allah Almighty.

The Eid congregations were also held at other major mosques such as Mahabat Khan, Qasim Ali Khan, Dawash Masjid, Sunehri Masjid, Spin Jumaat and other places where special prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country.

The Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eidul Azha and offered special duas for the restoration of peace and prosperity of the country.The people sacrificed the animals after offering the Eid prayers. The welfare bodies remained in the forefront to perform the ‘sacrifice’ and distribute meat among deserving people.

Philanthropists in Gor Khatri distributed cooked meat among the people for free. They had set up a point at the Western Gate of the archaeological complex sited in the heart of the city. A number of organisations also collected hides of the sacrificial animals for use in relief activities.

Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi, Chief Khateeb Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in his sermon, said Eidul Azha was a great day of eternal sacrifice for the religion of Islam to please Allah.He said people must remember the poor and deserving people in their happiness on this holy Eid.

“The spirit of sacrifice teaches us to be ready for any service required for the good of humanity and the will of Allah Almighty,” he said.He said the people have to devote their lives to the service of Islam and humanity. Maulana Tayyab said people should take special care of cleanliness and cooperate fully with the sanitation staff.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur celebrated the festival in his hometown of Dera Ismail Khan. He offered the Eidul Azha prayer there and exchanged Eid greetings with the people of his native area.
