Please note that the term ‘million acres’ denotes the area of a tract of land, and the term ‘million acre feet’ denotes volume of water ie one foot of water standing over one million acres of land. Categorising the opponents of the Kalabagh dam as enemies of the country is a very bad strategy and does more harm than good. Most people oppose the dam because their leaders have misled them. In fact, southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan will soon be drowning because the Kalabagh dam has not been built, the only dam that can moderate the floods of the river sized tributaries of the Indus, namely Kabul, Chitral, Swat, Haro and Soan.
