Scorching weather forecast this Eid
Islamabad: With Eidul Azha festival starting today (Saturday), residents should brace themselves for scorching weather rather than any rainfall.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a high-pressure system is expected to develop over the country on June 7 and spread its influence by June 8, setting the stage for a severe heatwave that could disrupt holiday plans.
From June 7 to 12, temperatures in central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are forecast to climb 5–7°C above normal. Upper and central Sindh, southern Punjab and parts of Balochistan could see the mercury rise 4–6°C above normal.
The intense heat could also bring dust storms and gusty winds to the plains. Officials have warned that children, women, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable during such conditions, urging the public to stay hydrated and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours.
