Sindh utilises only 4.47% of federal development grant
Federal govt transferred Rs334bn at beginning of fiscal year on July 1, 2024, for 22 development projects of province
KARACHI: Only 4.47 percent of the federal grant could be utilized out of total allocated fund for development projects in the province during the current fiscal year.
According to a detailed report released by the provincial Finance Department, out of the Rs384 billion earmarked by the federal government for 22 development projects across the province, only Rs18.23 billion could be spent in Sindh so far.
Under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), Rs49.62 billion were allocated during the fiscal year 2024-25. The federal government had transferred Rs334 billion at the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2024, for 22 development projects of the province.
Initially, Rs76.97 billion were allocated for Sindh’s share, which was later revised upwards to Rs81.33 billion following a mid-year review. The federal government released Rs34.24 billion, of which Rs33.24 billion were disbursed to the province.
Despite the substantial funding, the provincial departments have managed to spend only Rs18.23 billion to date, raising serious questions about administrative capacity and project execution. Sources of he Sindh Government told that the Chief Minister Sindh is reported to have expressed strong displeasure over the dismal utilisation rate, directing concerned departments to expedite work on federally funded projects and avoid further delays before the close of the fiscal year.
