KWSC chairman wants uninterrupted water supply during Eid
In preparation for Eidul Azha, the chief executive officer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, has directed comprehensive arrangements to ensure uninterrupted water supply and efficient sewage management across the city during Eidul Azha.
Acting on directives of Karachi Mayor and KWSC Chairman Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Siddiqui instructed all departments to coordinate closely with district administrations, elected representatives and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board for timely disposal of animal waste.
Siddiqui issued a strict warning against dumping animal remains into or near manholes, stating that such actions disrupted the sewerage system and caused public inconvenience. He directed that all the complaints related to water and sewerage — particularly around mosques, Eidgahs, Imambargahs and graveyards — must be resolved before Eid.
He said the executive engineers had been assigned the responsibility of ensuring smooth water supply and complete sewage cleanup in their respective areas. Additional instructions issued by the KWSC chairman included maintaining round-the-clock readiness of jetting and suction machines, ensuring driver availability and finalising duty rosters for the Eid holidays.
The hydrants cell was directed to provide free water tankers to social and religious organisations offering public refreshment (sabeel). “Facilitating citizens during Eid is our top priority,” said Siddiqui, adding that negligence in service delivery would not be tolerated.
