Eid security plan 43,000 cops to safeguard prayer venues in Punjab
LAHORE:Punjab police have finalised a province-wide security plan for Eidul Azha, deploying over 43,000 personnel to safeguard 28,074 mosques and 890 open prayer venues.
According to a police spokesperson, 445 Quick Response Force teams, 11,912 metal detectors, 225 walk-through gates, and 10,466 CCTV cameras will be used to ensure safety. In Lahore alone, more than 8,000 personnel will be stationed at over 5,000 Eid prayer sites.
Aerial firing, one-wheeling, kite flying, and disorderly conduct will be strictly prohibited. Snipers and plainclothes commandos will be deployed at sensitive locations, and all sites must be cleared before Eid prayers. Strict enforcement of SOPs for sacrificial animal hides and surveillance of banned outfits has also been ordered. Traffic and tourist facilitation measures will be overseen by DIG Traffic, especially in Murree and major recreational areas.
