226 suspects arrested in Kohat search operation
KOHAT: The police on Friday conducted a large-scale search operation in various areas of the Kohat district and arrested 226 suspects, including facilitators of terrorists and wanted criminals.
According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majid Marwat, the operation was carried out under special directives from the Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed. The arrested persons are allegedly involved in serious crimes, including terrorism, murder, robbery, and drug trafficking.
During the operation, police also recovered a cache of illegal weapons from the suspects. The action was taken in multiple localities including Junglekhel, Nusrat Khel, Muhammad Zai, Ustarzai, City area, Jerma, Gumbat, Shakardara and Lachi.
The apprehended persons have been shifted to various police stations and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for further investigation.The RPO emphasised that the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and organised crime would continue. He assured the public that police were committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the region.
