LAHORE:A beggar was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in the Green Town area. According to initial investigations, the victim, identified as Dildar, was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by unidentified suspects who fled the scene after the assault. Police shifted the body to the morgue via Edhi ambulance. Authorities started scrutinising CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the attackers. A police spokesperson stated that, based on preliminary evidence, the motive appears to be robbery, though surprisingly, around Rs78,000 in cash and a mobile phone were found in the deceased’s possession.
Two drug peddlers arrested
Iqbal Town Police arrested two drug-traffickers over selling crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ice), here on Friday. According to police officials, SHO Iqbal Town Amir Shehzad, along with a team, apprehended two individuals identified as Hamid and Mohsin from separate locations. Hamid was arrested from the Ravi Block Market, while Mohsin was taken into custody near Doongi Ground, allegedly in possession of a quantity of ice. Police said that the two suspects were involved in the distribution of narcotics across various neighbourhoods of Iqbal Town. A total of 1.7kg ice was seized during the operation. Cases were registered against the accused, who were handed over to the investigation wing.
Body recovered
Body of a 29-year old man was recovered from the Ravi River near Babu Sabu area on Friday. According to Rescue 1122 officials., Rescue teams, including divers, were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a body spotted in the river. After retrieval operations, the victim was identified as Naeem, son of Arif. Body was handed over to police, a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.
